Kadar R. Small is a photographer, casting director, and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY.

Born in San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago, and raised in Queens, NY, with his highschool years spent in Atlanta, GA, Small developed a passion for people-watching and romantic movies. After earning a BA in Advertising Marketing and Communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology, he began to contemplate how his passion for photography could serve his community and society.

Small's work centers on documenting the experiences of Black and Brown communities, as well as the LGBTQ+ community, with a particular emphasis on relationships and intimacy. His interest in portraiture began at a young age, capturing intimate moments in nightlife settings where Black and Brown individuals laughed, danced, and connected, underscoring the importance of safe spaces. Kadar's portfolio also features tender and intimate portraits of Black men, challenging stereotypes associated with urban environments.
