‘PDA’
PDA speaks to the complexities of being a queer
black man and the journey to love. Being raised in
NYC, I never realized the privilege of being out and
seeing queer love until I experienced homophobia
at my high school in Atlanta, GA, after seeing two
black boys kissing, get ridiculed and thrown
slurs. This experience made me realize how the gay
communities in more conservative areas do not
have equal rights and opportunities to share their
ways of demonstrating affection.
